Even though this is a PF blog, I do enjoy discussing blogging in general because like you I learn so much more everyday.

Quite a good subscriber count you have there and I think it would not be a bad idea to show the counter on your blog. With a number of Tax blogs out there, it does lend credibility. There is no harm in doing so I think, but you should do what you feel most comfortable with.

@ Pinyo - Thanks for the comment. 500 in 6 months is excellent and based on your content and blog I am sure a very legitimate number. I should have said this in the post, but 99% of US based pf blogs are legit and in PF space there is little incentive to inflate the numbers. It is more in the tech and pure MMO blogs that this inflation of numbers happens most.

Interesting argument about the RSS count, and I am...

Interesting argument about the RSS count, and I am sure RSS inflating trick does happen. Just as an FYI, I reached 500 in 6 months which I don't know if that's good or bad. Another observation is that a lot of statistics -- i.e., RSS, visitors, revenue, etc. -- depends a lot of what you're writing about.

Lastly, thank you for linking to the guest post on my blog. (I credit you in my post tomorrow)
I am one of those who likes the numbers but i am not one to post them as I feel it is a form of a brag.
I also would rather my readers be those who make their own choices rather than "follow the heard". I am not sure how blogger works but Wordpress has some interesting plug-ins that give stats to ones blog.
As it stands "taxguy" has 185 rss feeds going out. On average I have 423 visitors a day. If you only figure the days I post then 663 visitors when I post.
Frankly all those numbers are more than what i had hoped for.
My aim in my or for my blog was not to gain popularity but rather to inform as many as possible. My goals were simply to not be ignored and that I could inform those who don't visit my office.

As for manipulating the feeds numbers, i am not surprised to hear this is done. and firmly believe, buyer beware mentality applies when reading a blog.

Your post on blogging are great. I hope you keep it up as I have learned a great deal from these post.
