I&#39;ve owned Apple stock for years. <br /><br />While the things you mentioned are indeed drivers of a higher stock price, I think the intangible are what make Apple a long term play. <br /><br />Principally,<br /><br />Apple&#39;s culture of innovation. They have a culture of making cutting edge products. <br /><br />What&#39;s more they tend to let others make the mistakes with the initial versions of a product and then come along to make a better model.<br /><br />Apple didn&#39;t invent the cellular phone they made it better. I think this is what you&#39;ll see in areas such as tablet PCs and video games (Apple has recently snagged some top video game people in the field)<br /><br />Apple understands that it&#39;s not just about the technology BUT also about making that technology easy to use. <br /><br />They create interfaces that allow the non-technical among us to harness the technical power of their products.<br /><br />Apple NOW understands the power of open source and using the power of community. <br /><br />Remember in the 90s when Apple had such a &quot;our eyes&quot; only approach making it difficult for outside developers to create applications for the MAC operating system.<br /><br />We were left with superior hardware but inferior software.
