I think there's a lot more luck in business than people admit.

The fact is LOTS of people do all of these steps and don't succeed. They are minimum requirements to increase the odds, rather than guarantees of success.

If that sounds churlish, compare to say being a dentist. If you go to college, get the right qualifications, and don't destroy anyone's teeth, you'll become a well-paid dentist. Luck doesn't come into it.

The other thing I'd add to the post is people skills. I have consistently found people to be the most important - and the hardest to anticipate - aspect of business.

That is a pretty good explanation of what it takes to create a successful business. I would add being in the right place at the right time, which can be planned.

Primarily, it takes the will and the vision to execute.
