There you can see real-time median rents for any metro/city as well as build your own custom list of locations of interest as a widget.FatLadynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9026484337051027793.post-53289712661980065262008-05-06T09:08:00.000-04:002008-05-06T09:08:00.000-04:00@ Grberry - You are spot on. I am currently trying to negotiate the lease terms, but the landlord does not want me to leave during winter (hard to rent of the place) so wants a 1 yr lease. I don't think I will be buying a house this summer so may go for the 1 year lease (but ask for a lower rent) - this way if I buy next year I will have a few months to make the transistion.Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14309605333128481208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9026484337051027793.post-34137720268122249952008-05-05T14:03:00.000-04:002008-05-05T14:03:00.000-04:00Try to negotiate to avoid the committed term lease...Try to negotiate to avoid the committed term lease. Otherwise, if you find a house you want, you'll be stuck owing the rent on the apartment even after moving into the house (or be unable to move due to the rent commitment).

When we bought a house, we still had 6 months to go on our lease; we used 2 for deleading and repainting the new house, paid 1 month ourselves while in the new house, and were fortunate enough to find new tenants to take over the remainder. If you are planning on buying, seek flexibility on the lease term!GRBerrynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9026484337051027793.post-40456218902299662202008-04-25T15:56:00.000-04:002008-04-25T15:56:00.000-04:00Thanks for the comemnt Moneytummy. But I think in 2009 they should stablize.Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14309605333128481208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9026484337051027793.post-88118041733960165972008-04-25T15:04:00.000-04:002008-04-25T15:04:00.000-04:00Good point, wasn't thinking about how it would aff...Good point, wasn't thinking about how it would affect the rental market.
