2020 IRS Tax Refund Processing Schedule and Direct Deposit Cycle Chart for 2019 Return Filings

Below is the latest table showing estimated tax season refund payment dates based on past refund cycles and IRS guidelines. It shows the date your refund will be processed and paid based on the week your return is accepted by the IRS. For refund dates specific to your tax filing go to the Where is my Refund (WMR) page or IRS2Go mobile application.

[COVID-19 impact update] The IRS has announced, under the national emergency provision to tackle the Coronavirus, that they will postpone the April 15 tax-payment deadline for millions of individuals, giving Americans an additional 90 days, to July 15, to pay file and pay their 2019 income-tax bills in an unprecedented move intended to ease the economic pain inflicted by the coronavirus outbreak. Further, because the IRS is now focused on paying out the 2020 economic stimulus payments and supporting the new UI stimulus measures in place with other agencies, refund payments will likely be delayed well past the estimated dates shown in the table below. Many readers have reported this and while it is very frustrating, there is not much that can be done given the economic fallout from the virus and soaring unemployment claims.

Note that Jan 27th is when the IRS E-file system will start processing electronic and paper tax returns. Even if you submitted before this date, don’t expect refund processing and payments to take place beforehand.

EITC and ACTC Related Tax Refund Delays (PATH) Update: As in previous tax seasons a number of tax payers will see refund processing delays. The IRS had already announced that it will have to hold/delay refund payments for people claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Child Tax Credit (CTC) due to additional anti-fraud safeguards/reviews under newly enacted laws (PATH Act). But the IRS is now processing refunds which were originally being held up due to PATH mandates. You should no longer be seeing the PATH message as a blocker to get your refund processed and paid. If held up for other reasons (see below) you will get the applicable message/follow-up action.

The federal IRS refund schedule table below is only for electronically filed returns (e-file) done thorough online tax software providers and assumes your tax return was in order. I.e accepted by the IRS via the WMR tool and status is equal to “Return Received”. Paper filed returns can take considerably longer and would add 1 to 2 weeks to the time frames below. Again, use the the tax refund chart below as a guideline and refer to the IRS WMR tool for specific time frames related to your return.

Also note that it could take much longer to get your refund if the IRS deems your tax return submission needs further reviews or your identity needs to be verified. This would add two to nine weeks to the date range of your refund delivery date.

For those impacted by tax refund delays (and it will be a lot this year) make sure you also scroll through some of the 8500+ comments below this article from current and prior years for further ideas/support, including some useful tips and tricks to find out your refund status if you are not getting much insight from the IRS WMR tool. So hang in there if you are dealing with extended delays for getting for your federal tax refund. You are not alone.

For those experiencing ongoing issues or delays with their refunds check out this article on “Why is it taking so long to get my refund.” The IRS has said that  phone and walk-in representatives can research the status of your refund only if it’s been 21 days or more since you filed electronically, more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return or if the IRS tool Where’s My Refund? directs you to contact them. The WMR tool will also provide an actual refund date as soon as the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund. If your refund is taking much longer than the above schedule, and assuming your return was accepted by the IRS, please leave a comment below for the benefit of other readers. I can try digging into the reasons if a few people are seeing delays.

Help! My WMR status bar has disappeared – Does this mean by return is still being processed and/or will my refund be delayed?

As many folks have commented, the WMR tracker status bar may disappear or not be shown if your return falls under IRS review after it is received (Status Bar 1: Return Received) because additional information is needed for your return. This can happen even if you previously checked WMR and it showed the status as “Return Received.”  An explanation or instructions will be provided depending on the situation (eg PATH message or see Tax Topic 152 as discussed below)

But don’t panic when this happens. The IRS still has your return but things are essentially on hold until the IRS gets the additional information from you to continue processing your return . You will either get directions on WMR or IRS2Go or the IRS will contact you by mail. Follow the provided instructions and return any additional information ASAP to get your potential refund and reduce any further delays. Talk to your accountant, tax advocate or tax professional if you are not clear on what the IRS is asking for or you don’t get an update after 21 days.

WMR Path, Tax Topic 152 and 151 message

Two of the most common refund related messages showing up on the WMR tool after your tax return is submitted are the PATH message and to Refer to Tax Topic 152. The PATH message relates to the The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act of 2015) and is to notify you that the IRS is required to hold refunds claiming the EITC/ACTC until Feb. 15 as described above due to further identity verification.

When you see the “Refer to Tax Topic 152” message it means your refund is being processed and the IRS is directing you its generic refund page for more information. There is not much you can do but wait to see if the IRS finds any issues or requires further verification of your identity or items in your tax return. See the various reader comments below on timing and their experience after getting this and other WMR messages.

A Tax Topic 151 message simply means that you’re getting a tax offset which may result in your refund being less than you expected. The reason for this is that the federal government has “offset” or deducted monies from your tax refund to cover debts you owe other federal agencies. You will get an official IRS letter/report explaining the actual offset and adjustments to your tax return, and details on how to appeal this action – but likely it will delay you getting your refund. While not great news, the silver lining here is that the IRS has processed your return and your adjusted refund (where applicable) should be on its way.

If I can order my IRS tax transcript does it mean I am getting my refund soon?

This question comes up a lot and I have seen a few comments on this suggesting that that if you can order your transcript then your refund is on the way. But this is not a factual statement. Yes there is a correlation because to get a transcript the IRS generally has to have processed your tax return (and refund where applicable). But the IRS is very clear that being able to request a transcript does not mean you will imminently be getting a refund and is among the common myths and misconceptions repeated in social media. The IRS’ official line is that checking the WMR tool is the best and official way to check your refund status.

However I have read a number of comments here and on other tax sites saying that when the WMR site provides limited information on the refund, requesting a free IRS transcript seems to be another way of checking the status of the refund. Generally if you can request a transcript, it means the refund is on the way and the IRS has completed processing of your tax return. But this is all anecdotal evidence.

A note about IRS system issues and refund delays

It appears that the IRS is again having issues with processing returns in a timely manner and so a number of people are seeing delays in getting their refunds or updates in the status of their refund on the WMR tool/app. The IRS has said that all system issues have now been resolved but given the various legacy systems they have and volume of processing I would not be surprised to see system problems arise again this year, which mean delays in processing and paying refunds.

See here for average refund amounts in past tax seasons and refund processing times by state

Amended Tax Return Refund Schedule

While the IRS promises to have regular return refunds processed within 21 days for nine out of ten tax payers, it does take quite a bit longer to receive a refund if you amended your tax return. Generally you will have to wait 8 to 12 weeks more for the IRS to process amended returns since they prioritize regular returns. Also note that the standard”Where’s my refund” service from the IRS does not track amended tax return status’. You need to instead use the IRS tool, Where’s My Amended Return.” You can also access the tool via phone by calling 1-866-464-2050.  Only call the IRS to follow up on delayed amended return refunds after 12 weeks. The number to call is 1-800-829-1040.

  1. Ok i got a letter in the mail code 4883c a verification letter it gives me this 1-800 number to call and a confirmation number to give them.

What is this letter and how does this wotk what are they asking for what are the questions ask please im in need of advice

    1. Hi olga the code 4883c is the need to verification of if the person how file the tax is the right person like i about the cuestión the will ask is very simple like you the only person to answer example if you have depended & the name & ss what is the name of you mother like this cuestión is example pleas have the copy of you tax for 2015 & 2016 good luck

        1. I’ll translate for you. I had this happen last year. You’ll need to call the number provided to verify your identity. The last part stating that you need a copy of the prior years tax forms is correct. Last year I had to provide the IRS agent with some specific information off my previous years return. (Total income, Federal tax amount etc.) After finishing the verification process I was told it would be up to 90 days to get my refund. Received it approx a week after the call. Good luck.

    2. The 4883C letter as essentially saying “[w]e will not be able to process your tax return until we hear from you.” This is an important aspect of the 4883C tax return delay, one that “Where’s My Refund” won’t tell you — your refund will be frozen wherever it is until you pick up the phone and call the IRS.

  3. I filed my taxes on 1/20 an i have topic 152 does that mean the irs wont process it till the 15th? Or wont release the money till the 15th please some one help me

    1. No topic 152 is generally nothing is to let you know the take 21 day to process you tax if you claim tax credit you will need to wait for 2/15

  4. my return was accepted 1/29/17, then i check my status and it shows this: ! Take Action- please see below for additional info on your refund. below it states: There is a delay in processing your tax return—-if you have a quesion call us.
there is no tax topic or anything. what could this be? have not seen anyone say they got this message. Help

  5. I also got the message about the tax act now does that mean my taxes are approved because I had the bar that said they accepted my refund I just have to wait for them to release my refund I’m kind of lost

    1. “Accepted” is simply IRS lingo for “Received.” When you get the “Approved” message — after February 15th — only then can you be certain you are good to go. Hope that helped

    2. Hi Ryan, just wanted to comment on something you said, not necessarily Important, just throwing it out there. The tax topic 152 message has always showed up near my WMR bar for as long as I’ve been filling taxes, once it shows up, it stays there long after I’ve been received, accepted, and a DD. I don’t even pay attention to it anymore….. But you are right there is no way to know anything for sure until you get the accepted msg and unfortunately for us it will be after the 15th this year…

  6. My wmr is down and says will not see an update till feb 15th but i might have to wait till the 27th why do i have to wait till the 27th

        1. Hrblock told me its pending at the bank just waiting on the irs to release it but they wont release it till feb15 so i hope my bank will let me get it the 15th or 16th

    1. I file on the 1/13 i get accept 1/14 bar disappear on the 1/28..still processing topic 152 eversince ..can somebody tell me the meaning?

      1. I found a YouTube video that says when the bars disappear it means that an issue flagged your return and a person has to manually review it. It could be ID Verifications, could be something really minor. Mines the same rhing. And I didn’t do any crrdits. 1 w2 that’s ot

  7. I filed 1/30 thru taxact like I do every year. Federal accepted and processing still. I know I wont have an update till 2/13 with new law. NY state refund approved today with a dd of 2/15.

    1. well many folks who DID NOT have child tax credits filed with software providers and got fed. acceptance . Then on 1/23 when processing began many child credit free filers are seeing wheres my refund go from received to still processing which is not an option expected. Its supposed to either be received, approved, deposited . This still processing shouldve had further instructions and doesnt and hasnt for almost 3 weeks now. only eic and actc filers shouldve been waiting til 2/15

  8. How come people that did claim their children are getting their taxes before us. And they did fall in the child credit? someone we know today got theirs today. Used the same place we did to file our taxes but we did ours couple days before them.. I’m confused as to how that’s happening when the Irs stating the 15th of feb.

    1. My brother filed on the 28th and I filed on Feb 1st. We both claimed the ACTC. While my Where’s my refund went from being accepted to now stating a tax code 152, he received his refund 5 days after being accepted. So idk what’s going on,doesn’t !take sense!

      1. You can fill your kids and not get the EIC, then he can still get his check before the 15th,,,,that’s the only way if he already has his check,,,, I don’t See the IRS braking the law for one person,,not going to happen,,,,

    2. People are not all getting advances from companies. I completed my sons taxes on taxact.com and his refund was deposited 8 days later.

  9. Did anyone file on the 31st of January and have their bars move at all or have a DD date? E-filed 31st at noon and no updates on my return with the WMR.

    1. Filed on Jan 31st. Fed accepted a hour later, state accepted the next day. Now no bars on wmr.

    2. Did u claim kids or anything bec if so u will have to wait until the 15 to find when u will get ur money so hope u get it soon

      1. Filed on the 28th and received on the 28th, and my bars have not moved off of received. Am I crazy or were our refunds approved faster last year?. I filed single no dependents. I have not received any letters from the IRS and my code still says 152 just as it did last year, only last year I received my direct deposit with in a week and a half from my file date. Whats the problem? Or should I be worried?

    3. i e-filed the night of the 31st PST, was accepted an hour later, my refund has not been approved yet, bars still say return received i am a single filer with no children.

    4. I file on 31 of jan my bar is still at , receive but i know alot people they taxes back and earn credit income child credit

    1. i agree 100%. my wife and i made 14k more last year. Now they probably think were criminals. NO, my wife worked as a temp for 11 months out of the year in 2015 got hired in, so was making nearly double last year wage/hr

    2. It could be worse. For example, we could live in a country that generalizes an entire population of people because of the actions of a few. We could also be living in East Germany between the 1950’s to late 1980’s, divided by an oppressive wall. We could also be living in a country where empirical scientific research is outright rejected. Can you imagine such a thing? Waiting for our tax returns would be the least of our worries in a country like that.

      Oh, wait . . .

  10. Yes because the problem with this year tax is because is no matter the day you file before 1/23 the opend i start process the return by 1/23 & the 21 day is the 2/13 is why the said you will see change after the 2/13 no later the 2/15 if you have child credit i wish is clear for you to understand

    1. many of us dont have any child credit and we know the processing began 1/23 but the irs did accept returns before. It was that we’d get processed asap and thats not happening with no explanation. and many others have received refunds even some withkids no matter what theyre telling you wil.

  11. I call today to the irs the said is no probleam with the tax is only the need to wait to pass 2/13 to show the refun approved because the new law is ehy is only show you refund still be processed so i wish time go fast to get my money

    1. If that is the case, then how come some people received their refund within a week of it being accepted?

  12. Confusing!!
So we filed our tax return since the first week of January once the IRS started accepting we got the bar stating it had been accepted after that we got the message to check after Feb15 due to the earn child credit. However a lot of family and friends also have these credits and have already received their returns.

    1. There’s no way they could have gotten it I looked it up and if u claim child or anything else they must hold it until after the 15th so they must have not gotten it

    2. Maybe they got an advance from whoever they used to complete their tax returns, which usually comes with additional fees

    3. No one with those credits have gotten their return. The IRS has been very clear about holding them till the 15th. If they went to HR block or liberty tax services, they probably got a tax return advance which is like a payday loan and usually has steep fees. Hate to burst your bubble. If you still get the tax topic 152 on wmr then you are fine. The 15th is only a week away. Im waiting on $9200.00 but patience is needed. Hang in there and don’t worry.

    4. The irs is lien.. Same thing is happening around here. the person claimed after we did and they went to same place as we did and they got theirs already today as a matter of fact. And this place doesn’t do a loan advance.

    5. I understand your frustration my federal taxes were accepted on the 18th here it is the 8th and I still have not received in I have family that have additional child tax credit and has already received a refund even people that has not work that has file self employment have received their refund that’s what the IRS has supposed to be stopping but has not and here we are still waiting 1 year I did not receive my money till the end of April they could not tell me why

  13. I filed my taxes on 1/25 & still on the IRS website it’s showing return received . But it hasn’t been processed or approved . My brother filed a day after me and received his federal tax back yesterday and the only thing I have receive is my state tax . This is just crazy . I need HELP .

    1. I filed on the 23 and accepted the same day . I finally got approved on 2/08 with a ddd 2/10

  14. Filed and accepted 1/27. WMR changed to two bars with ddd of 2/10 this morning. No EITC or any special credits or extra deductions, single W2.

  15. I filed Jan. 26 through TaxAct as I have for last 4 years. Still no acceptance? Can anyone help me?

  16. oh my this is the longest ever no change file 01/28/2017 state came already 02/02/2017 wheres my money i work so hard for not 1 w2 not 2 w2 but 3

    1. At least you received your state, they told me they haven’t even started processing mine yet. This is crazy. You are so right we work so hard for our money and they are just screwing us and making us wait for OUR money. I just want something state or federal, I need a new car for work, I totaled my other one

  17. 02/08/2017 Still no bars no codes nothing still in limbo getting close to 3 weeks now :( Will check my mailbox today I guess I’m looking for a letter to Verify ID ~However~ I haven’t got that letter as of yet! I just wish that the IRS could give me an explanation to this situation.I did talk to someone at IRS yesterday and was told that I can finally ask IRS Rep. to look at my return 13th of Feb.

      1. Yes because the problem with this year tax is because is no matter the day you file before 1/23 the opend i start process the return by 1/23 & the 21 day is the 2/13 is why the said you will see change after the 2/13 no later the 2/15 if you have child credit i wish is clear for you to understand

        1. But what if our don’t have a child or the earned income credit? Is it still 2/13?

        2. I have a different message today when I check WMR Today 02/09/2017,I still have no bar however it now say’s “We have received your return and it is being processed. FYI I have no child credits my children are all grown up & in their 30’s now.

        3. So there are various reasons your tax return could be held up (not just for EITC or ACTC which most are seeing). Your return could just have been put aside for a random ID verification or something in your return did not process. I think wait for 21 days and then call the IRS if you don’t get an update

  18. Is anyone receiving texts that Say “your IRS refund date is getting closer”. I’ve gotten one every day this week . What does that mean?

    1. Ya its a spam nobody will let you no until its in ur bank so I wood block the text or call the people u did ur taxes with and let them no what’s going on sounds fishy

  19. Federal Return E-Filed and Accepted by the IRS on 1/26/2017. WMR tool has progress bar with Return Received shaded. The “Your Personal Tax Data” information has last four of social, filing status and Your Expected
Refund Amount. What is going and why is there a delay? normally when I E-File it is 10 days? Does it matter when I E-File? January vs. February vs. March? I do not qualify for EITC or ACTC, so that should not be the hold up?

  20. we all know they werent processing til the 23rd.But those that had their stuff went ahead and filed forms out using ready to go software taxact . And yes we got ACCEPTED by the irs figuring wed be processed asap on the 23rd. We even bad bars stating received in the beginning. Mine for ex. dropped off on 1/28 and thats when i got this still processing with no codes or instructions. WE all realize they werent processing til the 23rd we should have been on the top of the stack.

  21. Okay, so there’s hope. Filed and accepted on 1/27, have had one bar this whole time with tax topic 152. Finally today got my second bar and a ddd of 2/10. No EIC or ACTC, but CTC and 4 W2s which probably contributed to the delay. So I line up with the cycle chart above. I did not order transcripts. Filed using Taxact.

  22. Still nothing. No bars, just “processing message”. Filed 1/23 bars disappeared 2/4. Stuck in limbo.

    1. Same as me but I got a letter Monday saying it was under review and if I didn’t receive within 60 days or abother letter call back.

  23. DID IRS HAVE THE PATH LAST YEAR,IF SO ID DEPOSIT DATE ON PEOPLE WITH EXEMPT GETTING ON FEB 15TH FILE MY TAX 1/23/2017 THEY SAID FEB 15TH.

  24. It says deposit date of 2/8/17 which is today but when I checked online it dont even show that it was sent to bank

    1. I have the same issue! I saw some people with a DD of 2/8 already got theirs. Now I’m nervous …. Doesn’t show it was sent to the bank yet even.

      1. Have you checked tpg Santa Barbara??? Google it.they are where your funds go before they go to you….if the it’s has sent them in their way that’s prob the first place you’d see it

  25. I used taxact and never had a issue til this year. Mine were excepted on 1/17 and I have no bar at all on the “Where’s my Refund” page. It says still. being processed with no extra information. I did not receive eitc or ctc. Yesterday marked 21 days for me. I did my sister taxes on 1/20 through turbo tax and she got hers back before me

    1. Did you check your refund transcript just to see if it’s on the IRS website for this year? I filed with taxact also and still nothing accepted on the 27th. When I check for a refund transcript it tells me it’s not available

      1. I CANNOT get a transcript either. I have no bars, ssn, refund amount and filing is on the left, no tax topic i did with taxact. accepted 1/17. tehcnically 23rd if you think. can anyone PLEASE have any ideas>??

    2. @ Cydney , The IRS did not begin to process returns until 1/23. Although you may have filed on 1/17 and your returns were accepted by the IRS , they did not begin looking at them until the 1/23. Make sure you do not count weekends or holiday’s in your 21 day count . I filed 1/23 , accepted on 1/23 , lost my bars about 1/27 and received a letter from the IRS on 2/6 , needing to verify my identity. Maybe that is what is going on with yours .

    3. I’m in the same boat. I filed using tax act. I have the EIC but I just checked my wmr today since my return was accepted on Feb 4 and it says they have no further information on my return. I’m starting to freak out I never had that I always had the receive bar. I don’t expect my refund anytime soon I’m just not sure what is going on

  26. its wed. 2/8. no changes all still in left bar still processing it says with no codes or further info nothing about ordering transcripts. On eggshells. Tried to reach tax act all they did was email me a description of how to use WMR. frustrated frustrated frustrated. No actc no eic when will i get my bars back and close this book?

  28. I filed on the 23rd and accepted on the 24th. Im married and we filed jointly. We dont have any kids and we dont have the eic either (we dont qualify). We got our state last week and wmr has said our return has been being processed since the 26th. I did have to use a tax id pin number for my hubby since last year someone used his social for tax return fraud. We didnt get our refund last year until the middle of october. According to turbotax our refund should come between january 25th and feb 14

  29. So my return says it has been processed on 1/27 and still not in my account, could it be my bank holding it? Is there a number I can call to talk to a real person?

    1. Do you have a DIRECT deposit date? What day does it say it will be sent to your bank? Allow 1 to 5 business days for it to be cleared in your bank. Business don’t count sat and sun and holidays. If it’s not in your acct at that time, contact your bank. See if they received it

  30. has anyone else that was able to get their transcripts this year compared them to a previous year and on the account transcript in the code explanation section towards the bottom, it has all of your different credits listed. In a previous year the last code is 286 (or 386) and it says ” amount of refund”, whereas, this years does not? I’m assuming, this isn’t updated until the refund is sent?

    1. No. Being able to get your transcript doesnt exactly mean for sure your approved. It’s a step in the right direction in the process. Check WMR to see if you have a deposit date. If there’s not an amount on your transcript theyes aren’t done processing

  31. Hi everyone, I was just able to order my transcripts. I filed turbotax and was accepted on 1/29, did claim eic and ctc I know it will be delayed until the 15th atleast but does this mean it’s been approved? on my account transcript it has my amount on there and a date of feb 20 but I’m not sure what that means..thanks y’all

    1. If it was a problem, in whatever state you live, you would have gotten a letter during acceptance, my sister has worked for IRS in West Peachtree for over a decade, people listen, each state has there own IRS headquarters, each state is different when it comes to it’s deliverance of refunds, for example if you live in a state such as GA, where fraud is extremely high, then there are going to be stricter measures.

      1. And people for the record a lot of the IRS workers that you talked to are NOT always right when it comes to answering questions about refunds, they work at a call center for the IRS, like I said my sister has worked for the IRS in downtown Atlanta for years, when they are hired and most have been hire recently because of IRS shortage, most seasoned workers are the one’s that will actually go over your account, in depth, those are the one’s that have the right answers.

  32. Mine said still processing a date will be provided…..and all that. I still have the info on left side. Accepted 1/17. No letter yet. I also used taxact. Which I’m never using again.

    1. When mines was accepted on 01/26, couldn’t order return transcript until 02/04, I had no bars only path message, on left side my refund amount, last 4 s.s and head of household, now it just has last 4, head of household, and taxes for December 31,2016

  33. For anyone who has received a letter…did your info disappear on the left side of where’s my refund? Like your social filing status and amount?

    1. @ J-me , I got a letter for identification verification. My information never disappeared on the left side . It remained and still remains there.

      1. When did you file and how long did it take to get the letter. Should I worry? I accepted 1/17

        1. @Steve , I filed on 1/23 , accepted on 1/23. Bars disappeared on or about 1/27. Got my 4883c letter (identification verification) on 2/6. Called IRS on 2/7 , got right thru on first try. Answered all the questions correctly of course so my taxes should be back in line to process completely. IRS did say it would be 9wks before I got my refund. I’m just hoping that’s a standard answer they have to give and it comes much sooner.

  34. At this point I am 100 befuddled as to what is going on! I e-filed a joint tax return (my wife & I) on 1/28. Itemized deduction, no credits. Got that refund was accepted the same day. 2/4 bars disappear and I get the ‘still processing’ message. At this point I have probably called and talked to 10 different people at the IRS. I’ve got answers that vary from ‘wait 21 days’ to the bars disappearing isn’t a big deal, to I will get a ID verification letter. Anyone else still not have bars???

  35. I realized after my refund was accepted that on taxact I accidently put my medical deductions on the line where it asked for the marketplace amount. We don’t have marketplace insurance. Will this hold up my refund??? It didn’t change my refund amount. And I had checked no when I was asked if we had marketplace insurance. Just a mistak on my part…..Help!!!

        1. 5th monday from January 23rd. Aka the 20th. The 5th week is the first batch to go for filers accepted with no delays from january 24th to 31st. Some wont due to errors and corrections.

  36. So I filed 2/05/17 and was approved the same day. I signed up for HR Block’s emerald card because they said it would be faster(about a few days). Went to check my status on the IRS website, and for some reason they can’t find me. Is that bad?

    1. Emerald card is just a loan from HR.block not the irs. If you read the fine print it comes from republic bank and trust. Since you did that, your refund will get routed to that bank, the loan will get taken out and sent to you. Its not faster at all. It’s actually slower since it has to be transferred to that bank then to yours. Extra day or so.

  37. I just did my transcript online and it shows my refund amount per my taxes with a process date of Feb 20th…so getting state refund already has no bearing on getting federal. I am curious to know, those that are claiming they received theirs with claiming EITC…are these those refunds you can get from H&R Block, not the actual IRS

  38. I have requested for a tax return transcript n gotten my money days later ..after I was able to request on while the where’s my refund was never updated

  39. I received my account transcript and it says no data available I filed and accepted on the23 went from 1Barr to no bars on 2/1 have no messages code or topic I should receive my return transcript in a couple days to see what it says.

  40. After I called turbo tax the guy told me that’s a pretty simple common mistake and they should figure it out pretty quick. He told me to wait a few weeks and keep checking my wmr . He said a computer probly kicked my return back and now a human has to physically review it for mistakes. I have a simple 1040 . No eic or anything.

  41. Ok I have the still processing message with no bars and tax topic 152. I did my taxes in turbo tax on the 13th of jan and I was accepted on the 24th . Starting on the 4th of Feb bars dissappeared with that message. Today I got a letter my taxes are under review for a mistake. I looked over them and seems I found the typo. I typed for me federal witholding 2998 instead of 2098. The letter said if I don’t receive my tax return within 60days or get another letter call them.

  42. I filed on Jan 27th and Fed/State were both accepted same day…used Turbo Tax as I have for the past 10+ years. We have claimed the EITC/Child Tax for the past 15 years! We had to provide our DL’s # and further info for verification…I was scheduled a deposit on Feb 10th, received my Ohio refund this morning. I wonder if some are still going to go through anyways if they see that you are not a ‘fraud’ risk.

  43. Still same processing message, no change. Still have everything on the left-side, and no bars =(

  44. Same Message NO CHANGE once again 02/07/2017 :( Your tax return is still being processed.
A refund date will be provided when available. Hmmm 7 more days for me and it will be 21 Days

  45. Ok so the IRS transcript site shows that the refund transcript for me this year isn’t available. Does that just mean that they have not approved my refund? Help!! Im stressing! LOL I was accepted on the 27th but it was late on the 27th like around 9pm no dependents. oh and I filed single.

    1. Usually your tax return is complete if you can order your 2016 return transcript. If you can’t order it yet I imagine it is still processing.

  46. I filed and got accepted on 1/25 and this morning my first news update happened, I am scheduled for a DD on the 8th, let’s hope my bank tells me I’m richer that day! I didn’t file any eitc or anything

  47. morning all still no changes and all info on the left side is there. my mother in law had hers done by a pro last thurs. her dd went in the bank this morning. this is b.s. shes older yes but again weve no kids, no eic no actc filed and accepted using taxact 1/12 and just a still processing statement withNO FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS or codes the government wanted us to efile free is that what this is punishment for not paying someone?

  48. Mine was accepted on Friday Jan 27 and still says processing I have no dependents I did have some medical stuff to deduct and my house. Anyone else have this?

    1. Hi Kevin, I was accepted on 1/23. Single, itemized and still processing today. Bars fell off on 1/25.

  49. I’ve checked mine again today and still the same. No amount no bars no nothing and I don’t claim any dependents or anything so I just don’t get it. Taxes were done on 1/19.

  50. MIne was accepted on 1/16/2017. I have had the path message since around the 3rd or so. Looked at the chart and was wondering will i get it soon or will it be the 17th

  51. Hi..so I tried the last couple days to order my transcript n it wouldn’t let me. However today I was finally able to…does that mean my taxes are approved? I know they aren’t releasing my return til the 15th because of my eic, just wondering if being able to order my transcripts means they are at least approved?

    1. Yes that means your return is finished. I was finally able to order mine also after a couple of weeks trying

  52. Mine says the same thing the amount and all on the left side but the bar went away this morning

    1. Saturday, I had the same thing you had, the amount went away now it has my last 4 digits of social, head of household, and taxes ending in December 31, 2016, I was finally able to order both account and return transcripts Saturday afternoon

      1. Mine too n I was able to order ..I hope that means they will b releasing ours soon as they are able to

  53. Only the IRS knows that answer.  The fact that it is being processed is good news.
What does it mean Your tax return is still being processed
It Means the IRS has your tax return and it has passed the initial computer check.  Your tax return is now either In Line to be Processed for accuracy or is Now being checked for accuracy.  So as soon as the IRS computers determine there are No errors the IRS will authorize payment and give an approximate refund date

  54. I filed 1/16/17 and accepted 1/17/17. I lost my status bar and it say Your return is still being processed a refund date will show once available. My amount Ssn and file status is still there. Can anyone tell me please if this is most likely good or bad

  55. Do I need to request 2016 transcript to see if my return has been processed or 2017 transcript? Yes mine still says it tax topic 152.

      1. Thanks, the IRS get transcript site wouldn’t take my info but when I did it over the phone it took everything just fine so I have to wait for it in the mail.

  56. Accepted on 01/28/17 had one bar for a couple days now just have the PATH message since 02//03/17

    1. Me too I did mine on Jan 28th now I got approved on the same day now I get still not move at all

  57. Hello, I filed my taxes on Feb 1st, via credit karma tax. I have yet to receive an email stating that my taxes have been received. I understand that it will be delayed due to me having children. However it has never taken this long to just be accepted. That usually happens within 2 days….I can’t find any information on this.

    1. Same thing happen to me filed mines on Jan. 30,2017 haven’t received my email either I have children as well that has never happened wonder what’s the deal with that thought it was just me this happened to

      1. You can call them if its been 21 business days since your return was accepted. I have called many times and so has my wife and they wont tell us a thing. Wont even take our info.

  58. I received letter 4464c, what does that mean? My tax return is no different than every year with just about the same refund amount! We were counting on out 12746.00 refund!

    1. Kathy , The IRS needs you to confirm your identity . IRS Website says refund will take 9wks after confirmation to process,

  59. I’m not sure if it will show the message I just posted due to a link in it to another forum. I found some info on Igotmyrefund. Someone talked to a rep at the irs. Apparently there isn’t an issue if our refund amount hasn’t disappeared on the left side along with the “processing” message. It just means we are moving along in the process.

  60. So my question is are we going to get our money on the 15th or that is when we will find out if we got approved or not ? (This applies to people claiming )if not when should we find out about approval ?

      1. You’ll get a refund date on the 15th or shortly after. Payment will likely take place up to 2 weeks later (Feb 27th)

  61. My boyfriend’s federal return was accepted on January 26th and has not recieved it yet. He has not claimed any additional tax credits and is panicking as to why folks who have claimed credits that filed on the same time, already recieved their return. Please advise with some suggestions or theories as to why he hasn’t recieved it. Please note, he e-filed via turbotax.

    1. If people told u they got it claimed everything is lieing. Nobody got it that’s claimed kids or anything else we will get it off the 15 and more like the 27th

        1. My deposit date is set to 2/8 and I claimed 2 dependents and initially E-filed via Turbo Tax on 1/31. Below is the exact wording.

Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by February 8, 2017.
If your refund is not credited to your account by February 13, 2017, check with your bank to see if it has been received.

        2. I filed the 29th of january and it was accepted the 30th of january, i have the same DDD at you Jennifer…No EIC or Children, I usually receive my state refund a few days before my federal, but haven’t gotten a thing yet. I used TurboTax as well. Lets keep our fingers crossed we get it tomorrow!

        3. I also have a DD of 2/8. I filed on 1/18 through Tax Act and claimed my two kids. I am not eligible for EITC. After years of Identity issues IRS issued me an Identity Pin back in Dec 2016. To Anyone getting a verification letters, i got those letters for the past two years before they issued me a PIN.

    2. Absolutely no one will receive their money before Feb 15th. The EIC and ACTC are being held until the 15th. This is a LAW. Maybe they got an advance but thats the only way they got their money

  62. Accepted on the 23 had 1bar now no bars just says we received and processing I haven’t credits to claim got a copy of my transcript 2/6 says no data available what does this mean used to never had this happen

  63. Filed on 1/27/17. And it was excepted two hours later….. On 2/4/17 The federal finally got approved they are saying they will DD on 2/8/17. I’m not holding my breath I can tell you that much folks

  64. websites say the still processing indicates theres info the irs wants to know well they arent indicating what they want to know.there are no codes or further instructions nor has their been mail how can i answer their question if i dont know what it is? and this is into its 2nd week now. Accepted 1/12 had received code til 1/28 its now2/6 Its too soon to call because processing has only been since 1/23 but i dont know what they want? WHERE DID THE BARS GO?.

    1. Earned Child income credit ? All have been delayed until Feb 27th if so, all mine was also accepted 1/23/17

    2. Jill , I got my letter from IRS today . All I need to do is verify my identify due to theft . Gonna call tomorrow . Once I do that they will approve and DD . Finally an answer !!

      1. @becca when did you file? When did your bars change? And did you have any info on the left side like your amount and status? Thanks!

        1. J-Me , I filed on 1/23 got accepted the same day. The bars changed shortly there after , I’m thinking like 1/27 or 1/28. I always had information on the side. I did receive the IRS 4883C letter yesterday. I called at 8am this morning . I got through on the first try. I had to answer some questions to verify my identity. Very simple. The nice IRS gentleman did tell me it could take up to 9wks to complete processing of my return.

        2. @becca OK thank you! I was trying to work out the time frame for the letter. I filed 1/23 but my bars didn’t disappear until 2/4 so if I am getting a letter I’m thinking I wouldn’t have received it as of yet.

  65. Reading so many of us getting the same screen you know if there was a code or instructions as all websites say there should have been or mail but I have no idea what they are looking for if anything but theres just been this still processing statement thats the most frustrating not knowing what they want if anything.

  66. So the processed date is 1/27 and it still hasn’t gone into my account direct deposit. Is there anyone I can call to see what’s going on?

  67. My daughter filed her taxes thru Turbo tax on Sunday 9Jan 29th) as she does every year, her state was deposited on Wednesday and her Fed was deposited on Saturday (2/5/17) no EIC or other credits….. Patience grasshoppers patience……

  68. Its been 14 days i called irs and they said the processing date on my transcript 2/13 marks my 21 day period i filed all credits on 1/23 hell i need a new set of teeth

  69. Accepted on the23 one bar topic 152- Feb2/1 bars gone no message not even about do when available no topic claimed no credits don’t know what to think

  70. morning all its mon. 2/6 still nothing in bank and no change on WMR site just the processing no codes or further instructions. didnt really expect since its only monday but had to try. Anyone have any info?

    1. Jill , I am the same way ! Noting in bank , WMR still says process and no codes or further instructions. I used Turbotax as I have done the last 7yrs. Never had this long of a wait. I do not claim any children. This is beginning to be ridiculous to say the least !

      1. Same here, claim single, accepted from IRS on 2/26/17. Nothing as of 2/6/17. Used Turbo for last several years also. Does not usually take this long!

        1. Dana Martin , This is the first time I have ever had to wait this long without explanation . I have never had “processing” on the WMR . I guess the PATH Law is slowing them down. I do believe if you filed 1040Ez they are getting DD and money issued to the bank. Seems like the hold up is the child credits as required by law and for us without children but filed 1040A/ Who knows what is going on .

    1. I’m in mass and still waiting unfortunately they are usually pretty quick. Filed and accepted state on 1/27 fingers crossed for tomorrow

    2. I’m still waiting on my MD return. I called on 02/03 and they told me it hasn’t been processed yet. I don’t know what’s taking so long, it was accepted on 01/23.

      1. Me too! I called md on Friday 2/3 and they said they received it Wednesday which I have an email from turbo tax saying they reviewed it Monday 1/30 and they haven’t started it. I’ve used this for 4 years and never has MD taken this long.

        1. Yes this is crazy, I never waited this long for my return, I’m getting frustrated

      2. I live in Md. Return accepted on 1/18/17. I claim both credits for 3 kids and still getting path message and 152 message on IRS2GO but MD DD my refund last week.

        1. They are not processing any returns of actc and EIC until 2/15/17. Dd dates week of 2/27

        2. I did mines on 1/17 and got accepted on 1/18 my first time checking was last week and I’m getting taxes code 152 why today made my 21 days no letter nor phone call from anyone I did mines through Freetaxusa. Someone please tell me what is going on.

    3. I called the state today an they told me to give it 2 more weeks they have a new system there doing now i filed 1/28/2017 if this help

  71. So I still haven’t received my state return a and week after the processed date. When should I expect this to go into my account direct deposit? I’m in ct and my mother got her return

    1. i got my state on 02/02/2017 no federal yet bull shit no update on wmf same chit today mon-02/06/2017

    1. I did get my state (mi) kind of and not, it was garnished so I would of had it if it didn’t get garnished

  72. Hi I filed on. The 28th and I still have no bar status does the irs at least have my return .

  73. What if you efile and it has been a week already and it still say information not found on Where’s my refund does the irs have my return ?

    1. Me too i did mine on the 24. No bars no nothing they saying after the 15th we should get some type a info. Lets see

  74. I went through turbo tax also and this morning my bar disappeared just says processing is this a good or bad thing

  75. again no eic no actc accepted on 1/12. processing began 1/23. had received status til 1/28 i got the still processing message NO CODES MESSAGES OR INSTRUCTIONS just STILL PROCESSING message. Because taxact was free their not gonna be any help. Even looking at my account on their site shows efiled and accepted. All of you taxact users any ideas?

    1. I have the exact same issue. I’m starting to wonder if it’s taxact. At least I’m not the only one this is happening too. I just hope we can figure out what’s going on. I wonder if we were re-sequenced?

        1. how do you know which refund cycle you are?? They have a chart but I cant use it because i dont know which number i am. all i know is they start with 2017 this year and 4 more digits after.

    2. I filed on the 6th with tax act and accepted on 12th. I’d didn’t use eitc or the Additional child tax credit either. Went from showing the tracker bar to now saying it’s being processed. Call IRS because it has been over 21days. She wouldn’t look up any of my info and kept repeating that it’s 21 days from January 23rd. So frustrating.

    3. TaxAct will answer any questions you have if you contact them through their website.
Ive used them for the last 3 years and until this year because of PATH I have never had a delay.
My tax return was accepted on 1/13 and Im just waiting on the 15th because I have the EIC and child tax credit.

  76. Did you get the “Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available. Please note: For refund information please continue to check here or use our free mobile app.” With no bars or anything else? I don’t even have a tax topic. I filed through Taxact.

    1. Yes J-Me That is the only message I’m getting and continue to get for 2 weeks now *Sigh* :(

      1. There seems to be quite a few of us. Did you file through Taxact? I tried to check this morning too, I still have the same message =(

        1. Yes J-me I did file with Taxact which by the way I have been using for over 8+ Years to file with. I’ve been checking my home mailbox everyday also looking to see if I will get a letter or something form them perhaps they picked me for ID Verify?? Still nothing no change or explanation.

        2. After 21 days past and you still have no info under WMR you have to call the IRS. The same thing happened to me last year. I saw NOTHING under WMR for 21 days. I called & they explained Identity Theft verify. I got my first letter with the special ID Verify code back in Dec 2016.

  77. I filed with TaxAct as I have done every year for quite some time now. My return was accepted on January 25th but my status continues to be the same: my return is being processed. Is there a delay I am not aware of this year or an issue with filing through TaxAct? I am a single mom of 3 kids and, although my return is small, I really need the money. Any insight the group could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    1. please see my post below. I think we are starting to think it has something to do with Taxact. There are a number of us with the same problem. I wonder if our forms for the EIC didn’t go through with our returns?

    2. According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.

      1. Is the child tax credit the same as the additional child tax credit? Thought these two were different.

      2. I know several people who have claimed EIC and have already received their refunds. IRS are looking for inconsistencies, such as no dependents last year, 4 this year…things like that. Those are most likely the people receiving those PATH messages.

        1. hmm…I really question this statement. You can see on the IRS.gov that they have said no returns with EIC/ACTC will be paid and processed before Feb 15 (mandated by law). So unless they are getting a refund advanced from providers like H&R block, they are not getting an IRS refund earlier.

        2. I claimed the EIC and just looked at WMR and it states I will have a DD on 2/8/2017. I have many friends who claimed EIC and have gotten their returns already also…Just a note!

        3. I did my taxes at H&R block, and still no refund. I’m claiming 3 children. Tax return was accepted the 25th. Because i did it at H&R block, I could possibly get it sooner??

        4. Every year I file my Taxes at a sanctioned IRS-site that offers free filing prepared by Tax-Professionals. I don’t think it matters where you go. If there is a Red-flag with your Social Security Number, or new IRS rules then your return will be delayed.

        5. The IRS will begin to release EITC/ACTC refunds starting Feb. 15. However, the IRS cautions taxpayers that these refunds likely won’t arrive in bank accounts or debit cards until the week of February 27 — if there are no processing issues with the tax return and the taxpayer chose direct deposit. This additional period is due to several factors, including banking and financial systems needing time to process deposits.
