2019 IRS Tax Refund Processing Schedule and Direct Deposit Cycle Chart for 2018 Return Filings

Below is the latest table showing estimated 20182019 tax season refund payment dates based on past refund cycles and IRS guidelines. It shows the date your refund will be processed and paid based on the week your return is accepted by the IRS. For refund dates specific to your tax filing go to the Where is my Refund (WMR) page or IRS2Go mobile application. Also note that for the upcoming tax season, existing IRS tables and rules are in place.

Note that Jan 28th is when the IRS E-file system will start processing electronic and paper tax returns. Even if you submitted before this date, don’t expect refund processing and payments to take place beforehand.

EITC and ACTC Related Tax Refund Delays (PATH) Update: As in previous tax seasons a number of tax payers will see refund processing delays. The IRS had already announced that it will have to hold/delay refund payments for people claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) due to additional anti-fraud safeguards/reviews under newly enacted laws (PATH Act). But the IRS is now processing refunds which were originally being held up due to PATH mandates. You should no longer be seeing the PATH message as a blocker to get your refund processed and paid. If held up for other reasons (see below) you will get the applicable message/follow-up action.

The federal IRS refund schedule table below is only for electronically filed returns (e-file) done thorough online tax software providers and assumes your tax return was in order. I.e accepted by the IRS via the WMR tool and status is equal to “Return Received”. Paper filed returns can take considerably longer and would add 1 to 2 weeks to the time frames below. Again, use the the tax refund chart below as a guideline and refer to the IRS WMR tool for specific timeframes related to your return.

Also note that it could take much longer to get your refund if the IRS deems your tax return submission needs further reviews or your identity needs to be verified. This would add two to nine weeks to the date range of your refund delivery date.

For those impacted by tax refund delays (and it will be a lot this year) make sure you also scroll through some of the ~7000 comments below this article from current and prior years for further ideas/support, including some useful tips and tricks to find out your refund status if you are not getting much insight from the IRS WMR tool. So hang in there if you are dealing with extended delays for getting for your federal tax refund. You are not alone.

For those experiencing ongoing issues or delays with their refunds check out this article on “Why is it taking so long to get my refund.” The IRS has said that  phone and walk-in representatives can research the status of your refund only if it’s been 21 days or more since you filed electronically, more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return or if the IRS tool Where’s My Refund? directs you to contact them. The WMR tool will also provide an actual refund date as soon as the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund. If your refund is taking much longer than the above schedule, and assuming your return was accepted by the IRS, please leave a comment below for the benefit of other readers. I can try digging into the reasons if a few people are seeing delays.

Help! My WMR status bar has disappeared – Does this mean by return is still being processed and/or will my refund be delayed?

As many folks have commented, the WMR tracker status bar may disappear or not be shown if your return falls under IRS review after it is received (Status Bar 1: Return Received) because additional information is needed for your return. This can happen even if you previously checked WMR and it showed the status as “Return Received.”  An explanation or instructions will be provided depending on the situation (eg PATH message or see Tax Topic 152 as discussed below)

But don’t panic when this happens. The IRS still has your return but things are essentially on hold until the IRS gets the additional information from you to continue processing your return . You will either get directions on WMR or IRS2Go or the IRS will contact you by mail. Follow the provided instructions and return any additional information ASAP to get your potential refund and reduce any further delays. Talk to your accountant, tax advocate or tax professional if you are not clear on what the IRS is asking for or you don’t get an update after 21 days.

WMR Path, Tax Topic 152 and 151 message

Two of the most common refund related messages showing up on the WMR tool after your tax return is submitted are the PATH message and to Refer to Tax Topic 152. The PATH message relates to the The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act of 2015) and is to notify you that the IRS is required to hold refunds claiming the EITC/ACTC until Feb. 15 as described above due to further identity verification.

When you see the “Refer to Tax Topic 152” message it means your refund is being processed and the IRS is directing you its generic refund page for more information. There is not much you can do but wait to see if the IRS finds any issues or requires further verification of your identity or items in your tax return. See the various reader comments below on timing and their experience after getting this and other WMR messages.

A Tax Topic 151 message simply means that you’re getting a tax offset which may result in your refund being less than you expected. The reason for this is that the federal government has “offset” or deducted monies from your tax refund to cover debts you owe other federal agencies. You will get an official IRS letter/report explaining the actual offset and adjustments to your tax return, and details on how to appeal this action – but likely it will delay you getting your refund. While not great news, the silver lining here is that the IRS has processed your return and your adjusted refund (where applicable) should be on its way.

If I can order my IRS tax transcript does it mean I am getting my refund soon?

This question comes up a lot and I have seen a few comments on this suggesting that that if you can order your transcript then your refund is on the way. But this is not a factual statement. Yes there is a correlation because to get a transcript the IRS generally has to have processed your tax return (and refund where applicable). But the IRS is very clear that being able to request a transcript does not mean you will imminently be getting a refund and is among the common myths and misconceptions repeated in social media. The IRS’ official line is that checking the WMR tool is the best and official way to check your refund status.

However I have read a number of comments here and on other tax sites saying that when the WMR site provides limited information on the refund, requesting a free IRS transcript seems to be another way of checking the status of the refund. Generally if you can request a transcript, it means the refund is on the way and the IRS has completed processing of your tax return. But this is all anecdotal evidence.

A note about IRS system issues and refund delays

It appears that the IRS is again having issues with processing returns in a timely manner and so a number of people are seeing delays in getting their refunds or updates in the status of their refund on the WMR tool/app. The IRS has said that all system issues have now been resolved but given the various legacy systems they have and volume of processing I would not be surprised to see system problems arise again this year, which mean delays in processing and paying refunds.

See here for average refund amounts in past tax seasons and refund processing times by state

Amended Tax Return Refund Schedule

While the IRS promises to have regular return refunds processed within 21 days for nine out of ten tax payers, it does take quite a bit longer to receive a refund if you amended your tax return. Generally you will have to wait 8 to 12 weeks more for the IRS to process amended returns since they prioritize regular returns. Also note that the standard”Where’s my refund” service from the IRS does not track amended tax return status’. You need to instead use the IRS tool, Where’s My Amended Return.” You can also access the tool via phone by calling 1-866-464-2050.  Only call the IRS to follow up on delayed amended return refunds after 12 weeks. The number to call is 1-800-829-1040.

I will continue to update this article and encourage you to check back regularly. If the information here was useful please consider sharing this page via Facebook, Twitter or your other social media channels.

I was told I was being reviewed last Thursday and I would receive a letter in the mail after I have seen nothing but a date will be given when available. Today it says accepted and should be in my account on April 25. I’m confused. I don’t know what to believe anymore.

I filed and was accepted on Feb 8. A few days later the timeline on WMR disappeared and read there’s a delay in processing with code 1541. Finally today the timeline came back and said my refund was accepted and it will be sent by March 8. I’m guessing the IRS is just way behind. Have patience and everything will work out. My family needed this bad!

My online banking app says my refund will be posted tomorrow. Thank God. Our wonderful President is cutting funding to the IRS and that’s why it’s taking so long to process these returns.

I read this morning that the IRS paid out like $64million in fraudulent returns last year. They’re just trying to catch the errors because it costs them a lot of money. In addition, they’ve updated their systems and ran into some initial errors. This is what is causing a lot of the headache. Most of the returns that were fraudulent claimed the child tax credits. Hence the reason a lot of you are caught up.

The state refunds are a different matter. California simply is staggering refunds because of lack of funds on their end. BS, I know, but unfortunately, we can’t do anything. The best we can do is to try to either owe or get nothing back.

I called March 1st and the rep said he didn’t even know when the letter went out??? I was waiting to receive it either today or next Saturday cause apparently that’s when they come but decided to check and it changed from that exclamation mark and on the WMR app to accepted and a date. .. I will definitely post on here if and when I actually see it in my account. Also I live in Georgia and fraud is big out here so a review is just to make sure.

My problem was I filed with my last pay stubs and I was unable to submit my W2 form in time.

My return was accepted on 2/11. Almost 2 weeks ago, I checked WMR and it had the big exclamation mark and said TAKE ACTION ! Please see below for more information about your refund. Well all it says below is:
There is a delay in processing your tax return. That is ALL ! At the bottom it says if you have questions, Contact Us. When I click on the CONTACT US link provided in that statement, it brings up Reference Code 1541. I had tried to order my transpripts but it kept telling me they were not available. I was able to order them on Wednesday, both my Accoynt & Return Transcript BUT that same message is still there. Anybody??

Filed and was accepted January 13th with EIC so I knew they wouldn’t start processing until mid February. Today I am still getting the “processing ” status so I called.
I’m under a 60 day review which they started February 13th. No letter has been mailed yet but they have ordered one to be mailed. She couldn’t tell me for sure when but possibly March 13th. She said it would just say they are reviewing. There are no actions I need to take or further information they need from me at this point.

Are the 60 days only business days or 60 days in general?

    This is incredibly frustrating.

My taxes were accepted on January 28th. I got a letter about mid February saying they needed my 1095 and form 8962 to continue processing my return. I faxed them my info last Tuesday so its been about a week and a half since i did so…i went to see if i could order my transcript just now and i was finally able to. They say to give it like 6 to 8 weeks for my return to finally come after i sent that info, but im curious…does it mean i wont have to wait that long to get it since i was able to order my transcript? Ive been reading the comments and it seems like its good news so far. Anyone know if that means maybe itll come soon? Please help! Lol

I filed my taxes back on January 13th when I got my w2’s. I showed a status bar initially but now show only the “received refund and is being processed” nonsense. They said my return was being held because of the EITC and Child Tax Credit which I was aware of prior to filing my taxes. Now, we’re obviously well past the 2/15 date of processing of those held returns but they won’t give me any information as to why it’s being held. I’ve tried every trick in the book to try and get them to give me some sort of information but nothing is working. I’ve been filing the same for the last 5 years since my son was born. I don’t see what the hold up is. If there’s an issue with something like needing to confirm my identity, just tell me and I’ll send what I have to. Stop having me be stuck in la la land and give me some sort of update.

Starting to get incredibly frustrated over here.

Same here. Only difference is my husband was told last week that they would be sending a letter on March 6th. Why wait that long?? And they wouldn’t tell us what it would say it what was needed. It could even be a letter stating they were just going slow reviewing it. -_- so stupid.

Me either. And they said none have been generated (yet). It’s incredibly frustrating. It’s not that I NEED the money but it would certainly be nice considering I’m in the process of buying a home and would like the extra cash soon to cover extra closing costs and all.

Hopefully we all get some sort of update soon.

I filed my tax return on January 23rd.. I haven’t received and notices or messages on WMR. It has just said refund being processed…. since the day after it was accepted.. I’m confused because I haven’t received any PATH msg.. I didn’t qualify for the EIC this year but I did get the ATC., not sure why it’s taking so long but I’m really concerned.

Im sadly having a lot of the same problems. Im 21, single and have no children and nothing to really claim. My tax return was accepted Jan 31st and I waited the typical 21 days and I had nothing. Then the information bar completely went away and about 7 days later the IRS says its processing. My job made me part time for this month and I was really hoping for my tax money to help support me instead of the $35 dollars in my bank account. This sucks. Causing so many problems and heartache for people.

Does anyone know if there is any way to get help before the dreaded 21 day wait has ended? I’m down to $300 in my checking after some bills, with no solid income on the horizon (I’m unemployed), so I’m really on the verge of collapse here. I’m in the “accepted 2/17–processing with WMR bars–bars disappear–stuck at the ‘still be processed…date will be provided when available’ stage.” I’m getting close to living in my car with my dog unless my refund arrives soon. Like most here, I’m unbelievably frustrated, but I’m also really scared. Does anyone have some insight on how I can find help, or am just stuck at the mercy of a mammoth, bloated, immoveable government bureaucracy? Sometimes I feel like I care more about this country than the government does…”of the people, for the people, and by the people”…my @ss…

I just called the IRS they say my taxes are under review. My husband and I have four children, three of which are ours and a foster son. She told me I had to wait, it could take up to sixty days… We have never had any issues ever before, never had to pay ever, in fact we both pay in extra so we don’t. We need our money, like I said I have a family of four children and I am trying to do the right thing here by helping the government by raising some else child and not asking them for assistance. I know they have to keep us safe but I do think if records are under review there has to be a faster process. Btw I had my taxes done by a Brooker doesn’t that count in the governments eye for something. It’s not like I did the on line.

The State deposited into my account on 2/15. I still have not recieved my Federal. The wheres my refund is giving me false information that my refund was sent to my bank. No such deposit made. I hear that there is a delay with the federal but why give false information? i’ve tried all the #’s to reach them and all i get is the automated system.. If there was something wrong with my tax why not an email / letter mailed to my attention or even a phone call. Even at IRS.GOV why not keep the people informed?

    MAJOR UPDATE:
Ok so some of you may have seen a couple of my posts and here is the whole run down…
I filed January 24th, 2017 and was accepted the same day…I filed two child credits, head of household…Was told I had to wait until the 15th for Path act to release my return and start processing….Ever since the 15th, with each big update, My status remained with the dreaded ” We have received your tax return and it is being processed.” I called the IRS 4 times and each time I was told that there was nothing wrong, no red flags, NOTHING! On the last call, I was told that I should wait until the 27th for the next big update, and I should get a date…ok…cool….27th comes around….guess what….NO DATE!!! so finally instead of waiting, I called that very morning on the 27th, and was finally told I had been selected for review and that I would be getting A CP05 notice pretty much stating that they needed to review my return and once they were satisfied they would release it within 60 days….I THINK NOT! so now that I finally have the answer of what was really going, I went ahead and followed some advice to talk to a tax advocate…Today, I called, and explained my situation of hardship, (eviction and Car repossession) and that I really needed to find a quicker way to release my funds….She of course verified my identity, and placed me on hold, she then returned with a pin number and transferred me to another rep, I was on hold for about 1hour and half, and finally the other rep picked up and asked for my transfer pin, (given by prior representative)….once given, He again verified my identity and put me on a brief hold to research my account….Come to find out, my return was put on review because My income was not available in the system at the time my return was accepted to be verified….WOW REALLY? so he looked at everything and said everything matched up and nothing was wrong and that the tax advocate should have no problem in lifting the hold on my return…By March 6th I was told my tax advocate would contact and begin the process of resolving my hold, and that I should have my return within the next 2 weeks…its still a while but its better than 60 days! so to everyone experiencing this, get a tax advocate! im so relieved!!!!

I Filed the same way the previous individual did and on january, 19th and it was a simple return nothing to it just 1 child to claim nothing else. Well it has been filed, accepted, and now it still says that it is still processing. Seriously? What is the hold up I dont understand like many others we have serious plans with that money but with a majority of planned on paying some important bills well now we have become delinquet with a few things to where were now in deeper water then we were before. I would think that the returns that just make no since at all with the possibility of being fraudulant would be looked at more carefully not all the normal ones who every year for the past 10 yrs have filed the same status, same kid, same job, same address, i mean nothing on our returns change and so why now are they having to further examine ours? I just dont and never will understand this country the reasoning for why they do things to the american people. Did you guys know that in london actually all of europe their tax’s are filed for them automatically they dont have to do anything like what we have to do! I wonder if that’s better?

Call the IRS tax advocate tomorrow morning. Let them know you are in a hardship. Then after verifying your identity, you will be transferred to an actual advocate. Be prepared to be on hold for at least an hr and a half. I was on hold this evening for 2 hrs to get a message they were closed. It’s my understanding you will or should have ur refund in two weeks, but they closed before I finished the process. Good luck to u and ur family.

I requested a transcript and despite my phone being registered to me for over 12 years they said it couldn’t be verified with AT&T so I am waiting for a letter. We have slowly been seeing a decline in our refunds over the years, but this year it is so small it’s like I can’t believe that some people get back $12000 and they are holding mine up. You would think those big ones would be the ones that took longer. I suppose I will just keep waiting like everyone here.

Filed Jan. 19th via Turbo Tax. Married-Jointly. Accepted same day. Showed several days on WMR site of being received, then got the PATH Act notice until morning of Feb. 16th. Checked already this morning (3-1-17) and still showing that my refund has been received and is being processed. Last year took 17 days from acceptance to refund being deposited, but I keep hoping for a quicker turnaround this year, already at day 14 since Feb. 15.

What I don’t understand is that while the IRS may’ve had to hold EITC and ACTC refunds until Feb. 15th what was stopping them from processing those returns as soon as they came in, and then having the returns ready to release on the 16th??? Typical government/bureaucracy nonsense.

I just got off the phone with the IRS a little bit ago (including wait time, just over an hour–but that was after a 1 1/2 hour phone call with the Social Security department…my brain is tired). Is anyone else having problems with this process because of change in filing status? The online customer service system refuses to acknowledge my new status (single–recently divorced), which is how I filed this year. The system only lets me register as filing joint at my old family address–no information about 2016 filing is available. The woman at the IRS said it probably never would be without calling and requesting each report–she said I can never have a new “single status” account because I’ll never be able to use my new status due to it being being licked to the same Social Security number as my old status. Basically, I am eternally married in the IRS system (that news didn’t excite my ex-wife very much). Because of this, I can’t get any information on my returns/refund for this year. I was accepted on Feb 17–but even the record of that seems to be gone now, but all she could tell me was that the money I still owed for last year was not paid by my refund yet and didn’t know if it would be. Nothing else. I feel less informed than I ever did before they gave us of the helpful online “tools.” Any one struggling with changed filing status, disappearing returns, or a total lack of ANY information?

When I got divorced and filed head of household the following year, I got audited. They told me I got audited because for years it was married filing jointly and due to the sudden change, they wanted to know why. After explaining to them that I was no longer married, they continued to process my return but they had to start from the beginning and it was going to take 8-12 weeks to receive my refund!
I file head of household now and have for 5 years without any other problems.

I had an offset back then so I never looked for refunds just sent my stuff and went on with my life. I mailed in the copy I have saved for that year and who knows what will happen now. Knowing the IRS they will find some way to keep as much of the refund I need badly as possible even though I should’ve got almost 3k of a refund for 2012 it was due to child tax and EIC credits. I got my refund last year no issues so it seems they waited until just after I can’t claim the refund and sent notice over 3 years later rather than sending this notice for the 2013-2015 tax years? Like that’s not totally obv so mad

In the WMR gave the code 1541, I understand that code may mean that there is only a delay because the system can not generate all the tax returns. I am head of household I have two young children. I depend on these taxes especially since I take out extra just for a bigger chunk back. If I have to pay taxes on time, why can’t the government give is our money back on time? This is very frustrating, today is the 28th and still says “take action” and code 1541.

Why on earth would you do that? The tax system isn’t your personal savings account. Put that money in the bank and get the interest on it.

WMR was stagnant x5 wks so I decided to call IRS. Went back and forth for 40 mins with full name, DOB, SSAN, verification of parents’ names, address verification and how long have I resided at address. Was told to have 2015 and 2016 filing available, W2s available and documents regarding school interest. They stated that they will send me a “letter” and to make sure that all documentation is available when I call them.

        Any theories?

Has anyone that had a DDD of 2-23-17 received anything yet? I haven’t and I have spoke to the IRS and they said it was sent to my bank the 23rd for direct deposit and my bank looked into it for me and See’s nothing yet… I guess I can wait a few more days but I just received custody of my nieces and nephews and my refund could really help me right now.

I had a DDD of feb 23 and have not yet received anything IRS said to give it to Monday night feb 27th or Tuesday morning feb 28th if not received to call my bank to see if they received anything they said nothing yet. They mention I might have fail into the delay category for the earning income credit or child tax credit it was saying there not releasing those till this week although on where my refund online says it has already been sent to bank. My boyfriend did his same day same time as mine and got DDD on feb 23rd as well and he got his already im not sure if it because he owed unemployment so they might have been pushy about there portion so that may be why he received his already i don’t know. But I’m starting to worry.

Hi. I just tried to order transcripts but I have N/A listed for this year’s return. But if I check the transcripts for the account, it shows the $2800 I owed for last year (an amended return) as being a 0.00 balance. Does this mean that the $2800 has been taken from this year’s refund–even though I can’t find any evidence of there being a refund approved for this year? Somewhere they seem to have found $2800 to cover past taxes–seems like it has to be from this year’s return. Sorry if this sounds confusing–but it is!!! This year’s tax season has been an emotional rollercoaster and I’m getting some severe motion sickness. Please, any insight would be greatly appreciated

It would have to be from the 2016 tax year return. FYI, if they did use part or all of your return to offset a previous tax liability, you will get the remainder of the funds in a PAPER check. It will not be DD.

There is no code no anything. However, it also says, if you have a question contact us. When I click on the “contact us” portion of that statement it takes me to a page with Reference Number 1541. I am having the same headache as most of you. I filed my return very early. I filed thru Turbo Tax. IRS accepted my return on the 23rd of January. I did keep in mind that returns wont be released until after the 15th and that most returns will be sent out the week of the 27th. IRS sent me a letter in the mail basically saying that I had to verify some information, just for safety. The form was a 4883c form. I had to call them and give them very little information. I was told everything was verified and that I should continue to check the “were’s my Refund tool.” Well today is the 27th, and I havent heard anything and the WMR tool still say’s ” We are proccessing your refund.). I try to call but it’s unsuccessful. I hope everything is okay. People like myself depend on this money for bills.

I have not had an update in WMR since the 15th of February…its been the same message “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”. I have called the IRS 4 times since the big update on the 18th of Feb, (reason being because most people I know who filed the child credit and filed after me, had already been given a date for the 23rd…where as I filed the 24th of Jan with child credit and still no date) and they thoroughly researched my account [[of course after persistently not accepting their generic reason of why mine could still be held up, and answering some simple id verification questions,]] and stated that there was nothing that posed as a red flag, nor did they see a notice being mailed out to me for verification…in other words, I should still be receiving my refund with no issues. So I asked then, why havent I gotten an update at the very least? If my account is so normal, I should have had a date as well, if not, my whole refund at this point…so again they tried to tell me there was nothing i can do except wait until the 27th for an update, or that wed for an update…until then its all a waiting game….I filed the freakin 24th of last month and its still nothing! Way past 21 days i feel like im in Limbo!

Hi Joana and to anyone who this may apply t. I myself have claimed the EIC and the ACTC. I filed on the 14thof Feb and my WMR did not change until last night or early this morning. The IRS updates the WMR only once a day and believe it or not its not until after 3am. I didn’t believe it either but I checked mine after midnight around 1am and nothing. Then I remembered hearing about the whole 3am thing and I got up at 3:44am and checked and sure enough it changed from Return received to Return accepted. And also said that the funds will be deposited by March 1st. So I’m hoping by the 27th or 28th. But shit even if I have to wait until Mar 1st. Better then another few weeks to a month awy.

If yours isnt approved near the posted date the irs tool gives then your probably going to be waiting longer due to an issue. Hope this helps!

At that time I had a tax offset so I wouldn’t have even bothered to check on refunds due so I didn’t have any clue they didn’t receive my return until today. I’ve had to get transcripts due to my daughters college 2013 forward so I knew those were processed and they issued my refund offset just fine, yet they wait until now to send me this? Ok so I need to find those old documents and file it I need my refund this year but I now can’t claim any of the dependent credits it looks like which pretty much forces me to owe them plus fees I’m sure, the credits are a big part of my overage on my return. I am so upset right now I don’t even know what to do. If anyone knows what credits I would be able to claim plz let me know just ugh

I checked wmr today at 6am it said sent 2-23-2017, my bank hasn’t seen anything yet neither has my online banking app or the main banking branch headquarters but I understand that it may take five days to become available apparently.

Try calling who you Filed with and get the account number it Was Supposed To Be sent to. They probably have the wrong account number . This happened to me today.

My return was accepted 1/26 and my status still shows processing. I thought waiting until the week of the 27th was bad but if it were coming I think it would at least show as approved by now

Can anyone who has called tell me the number they used and then options chosen that got you to someone that could actually help? I’ve either got stuck in a loop of automated options that get me nowhere or transferred around all over but ran out of time on my break and can’t hold just to be transferred again.

I needed this money badly for my electric arrangement, so stressed out

Yep. I was sent a paper that said i was required to do nothing and that i was being reviewed. I also filed in january, accepted by the irs on the 28th. today is feb 27th and still no answers. I love how i can loan the feds money all year, interest free, and when I try to make it easier and faster on them by efiling and using direct deposit it blows up in my face. never again will i be responsible and swift with my filing. this is unbelievable because it sounds like by reading this forum that anyone who filed in the month of january are actually being punished. never again

        Chris,
I don’t believe that this delay is apllying to those who filed in January. I filed Feb 1st and still haven’t received any more information other than still pending. I think it has to do with all of the changes being made in our government and not mention all of the identity theft is affecting everyone. At first, I honestly did mind the IRS taking the extra precautions. I was a victim of tax identity theft when I e-filed last year with Taxslayer, in which I had used for the past 7 years without any problems. But I think this waiting without any valid explanations is terrible!

I filed on January 23, received the same review letter dated February 3, 2017 (before they were even processing EIC returns…and it says “up to 60 days” which I find quite humorous since I went under a complete audit 2 years ago because my ex also claimed the children on my year, got a letter I was all set for the next 4 years….seems I’m not all set. I would agree, those of us that fied earlier are the ones they’re pulling, holding our returns. 60 days in this day and age is a ridiculous amount of time to review anything when they have all information they need and they are working 24-7…it should take a day to ‘review’ information, ask for anything else they need.

Everyone try to remember once the WMR says “sent” that it doesnt mean we will have our money that second or day or next. The financial institutions everyone chooses to do business with ALL have different processing times themselves. Almost everyone that gets their refund approved dd will see 2 dates. Like mine says will be sent on 3-1-17 but dont really expect to use it til 3-6-17. The banks need time to do the pending transfers and everything that goes with it! Kk. Hope this helps

@MShea. I filed 2/3. Called yesterday and was told they sent a letter weeks ago that I have to verify my ID. Told them I never received it. Nothing.

This morning I called again. Tried to make an appt at the local office. “You need the letter”. I do not have the letter you supposedly sent weeks ago and will not send another. “Well you need it to verify your ID”. Once again. I never received it. You won’t send another. I work for a Hosp so getting off of work to make an appt is difficult. “Oh well you need the letter” and she hung up

The US Treasury should pay us interest on our over payment of estimated taxes. They use our money for an ENTIRE YEAR…then F around with all kinds of excuses on why there is a delay getting MY MONEY BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT….If we owe them money, by God they will charge us a PENALTY and INTEREST. They should pay interest on the money we over pay since it is basically a loan to the government. What’s good for us is good for them!

(From Jazzy) Paper check are only delayed by 2 extra days than Direct Deposit. Usually paper checks are mailed on Friday’s and you usually get within 1 week; the following Friday or sooner. The US Postal usually don’t deliver Refund checks until Saturday morning to prevent someone watching your mail and stealing the check. Most people are home on weekends and know what time their mailman comes on that day to check for their refunds. If, you have yet to receive your check it should be in your mailbox Saturday morning; but it could be today. Never know if the post office still use this practice as they did when we ONLY could do PAPER Return way before this efile came about. Did not find anywhere in the manual that is ONLY mail them out on Friday’s….but that is the norm.
