People NOW Seeing Their Tax Refunds Plus Tips on What to do if Your Refund Has Not Yet Been Received

The IRS has announced that it is now processing tax returns for all taxpayers, including those who filed a return including those who claimed the EITC/ACTC. Unlike prior years, processing seems to be much smoother this year.

The number of returns processed by the I.R.S. was down about 10 percent from a year earlier, according to statistics provided by the agency. The average refund amount is also likely to be much lower this year.

The agency has however stressed that taxpayers should not expect refunds to be available in bank accounts or on debit cards until late February for those with EITC/ACTC credits, due to PATH act limitations.

Your WMR or IRS2Go status will indicate “processing” until then or will be updated if additional non-PATH related information is needed. Scroll down to see comments and tips from other readers based on the current and past tax year when the PATH act was enacted.

2024 Tax Season Comments and Status

Overall the sentiment across social mean and from reader comments is that the IRS is much more efficient this year and in line with the estimated schedule and normal PATH refund freeze restrictions.

This is likely due to increased IRS staffing levels and the end of pandemic related stimulus payments and payment of expanded tax credits, which mostly managed by the agency.

Refund payment timings differences are due to several factors, including weekends, IRS batch processing schedules, government holidays and the time needed for treasury and banks to process direct deposits.

Comments on Dealing with IRS Tax Refund Delays

You are not alone and below are excerpts from readers like you who have faced delays with their refunds in current and past tax seasons. Also included are reasons why and helpful suggestions to help you get the money you are owed. See more in this Refund update video.

Those who had dates of 22nd, most got their refund deposited on Friday. I was one of them. Those on the 23rd are the ones that will get theirs on Tues/Wed. The banks have the funds already; they just aren’t releasing until starting midnight tonight up until Wed. Think about it, if it only takes let’s just say 24/48 hours for the banks to get the refunds from the treasury…then those that went out on the 15-16…reached the banks in time for Friday releases. Those on 17-18 will release on Tues./Wed. It is the bank that are holding those refunds until after the holiday…IRS warned the delay are with the BANKS, not the Treasury or them.

The IRS had this strategy planned long time ago when they started that PATH law…they knew how they was going to roll out the releases…Treasury Dept. has the capabilities to release without being Opened.

My mom/dad gets SS and their checks are released (5) days and their bank hold it in “pending” status until the date on the check…the same thing for Refunds…some banks don’t hold (depends) on your bank policy. My credit union don’t hold. Don’t be fooled…technology allows anything to process in real time…electronically means just that…real time….just like an email can come from me to you….within minutes.

Oh by the way everyone take a look at your WMR up until you actually get your refund. I have read where some have posted that Sat they had DDD, then Sunday it changed back to ..”we are processing your return…and this weekend that got a ltr 4883 (id verification) or 4464c, and letters asking to fax 1095 health form…varies issues…their DDD was pulled and placed back on hold….

So, don’t spend that money until you actually have it in your bank account/hands…IRS is pulling a lot of tricks this year…

I know everyone may have the same question, so instead of trying to reply to everyone individually, there is nothing you can do from now until Saturday but pray you are one of the lucky ones that will get an update and DDD or 846 on your transcript between now and the 18th.

I HIGHLY recommend you call all day today and speak to as many IRS rep you need to if you got questions or concerned there may be an issues, hold or review that may delay you further..

It only takes 10-15 minutes to get thru this line…(800) 829-0582 ext. 652. Just tell them you got a code on the WMR this morning saying you were instructed to call; but you don’t recall what the code was and you are not at a computer to log in…do I have a letter being mailed or do I need to verify my ID or something? This is a sure way to get them to call up your return to take a look…

If they say just the WMR by the 18th this is a “secret” code for – You will be seeing DDD on or before that day on the WMR…you can get them to but you have to be very persuasive and persistent which take a lot of work…lol. Heck I was worn out after that call…smh. But it was well worth the answer I got at the end. :-).

HINT: Make you your message on the WMR does not say “processing”…but instead “processed”…there is a huge difference…”processing” mean something is still going on and you are not fully done…the other YOU ARE.

The reason for the different wording is for those who did not get the PATH message in the first place; and who still have we are still processing your return and a date will be available….(This is how they can tell them apart).

[Update Feb 14th] The IRS has confirmed to several readers that seeing the “PATH” message in WMR is a good thing. It means the IRS has reviewed your return and is now holding on processing until Feb 15 as required by law. You should start seeing updates to your WMR status and a Direct Deposit Date (DDD) from Feb 15th or 16th (since WMR updates overnight).

Sharon I spoke with IRS on today, if you claim EIC they should start releasing payments on Wednesday Also IRS will be working Saturday & Monday. So hopefully we all should be relieved by the weekend. Special Thanks to Author Andy for this special page!!

Jazzy …You get a FULL PAGE PATH message, starting check back for a personal DDD date after the 15th. Everyone got the 152 path message where you click on the Code 152 to read. The other one…pops up after the bars disappears…. I think people are getting confused about the (2) path message, that’s all…IRS WEBSITE NEWS:

PATH Act Tax Related Provisions delaying EITC and ACTC

The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (the PATH Act), mandates that the IRS not issue a refund on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit until Feb. 15. The additional time helps the IRS stop fraudulent refunds from being issued to identity thieves and fraudulent claims with fabricated wages and withholdings.

Jennifer says in a comment on the IRS refund schedule “My return was accepted on the 17th. I received an email early Tuesday morning and checked and it was. So I guess some were actually accepted before the 23rd. I do get eitc but not actc.” Gerri on the same article says, “My return was accepted. I find it odd that turbo tax is already giving me a date range. I thought the irs was delaying EIC returns. If that’s the case, how is it possible that Turbo tax has a date for me already. I am hoping that since I filed so so early this year, that maybe the irs is processing some returns to test the system out. Maybe some of us that claim the EIC will not get delayed. Hmmmm….wishful thinking I suppose!”

This prompted the following replies:

Christine – Mine was accepted by the IRS (not H&R Block which I used because my husband is Military) today on the 18th. We have always claimed EIC, so I am hoping ours doesn’t get held. Not because I have pressing issues or bills to be paid.
Amanda – My return was accepted by the IRS. I too claim EIC. I spoke to a tax expert and was told they are not holding all EIC returns. If you have always claimed your child/children and had no major changes they are processing your return on time.
Brandon – Mine was accepted on Friday the 13th been claiming same 2 children for 10 years at hr block no changes on return at all
Kristen – So not everyone’s will be getting held? Mine was accepted today and i filled today

So what is going on?

WMR Status Graphic

This is definitely creating some confusion for readers. But the answer is simple. The IRS was clear that processing would not start till Jan 23rd. But they will clearly accept earlier. Receiving/Accepting your return vs approving/processing your refund is two different things.

To see this more clearly look the official IRS Where’s My Refund tool process diagram which shows the following sequence of how they accept. process and pay out refunds. You can see that when a refund is received (or accepted) it means that it is in queue for processing. But it does not mean it is approved and/or a refund is ready to be paid.

The three status’ in the official IRS WMR tool are (1) Return Received (sometimes = return accepted), (2) Refund Approved and (3) Refund Sent. Sometimes if you are using popular online tax filing tools like TurboTax or H&R block, you may see them showing refund approved. but that is the status in their system or based on an IRS refund payment estimate they have derived from past years. You need to go to the official IRS WMR tool page to see the personalized IRS processing status and refund information/date.

  1. After reading just that, Jazzy, uh no I ain’t filing next year I am going to take a vacation from the process cause it’s going to be a hot mess next year if all that comes thru.!

    Reply
    • Yep, it may be better to file April 14 at 11:59 (hit the button) to submit. Whatever the deadline date is going to be for next year…

Well legally we do have up to (3) years to file our current tax returns by law. Now you do know that IRS has the authority to file on our behalf without our permission. If they receive a W-2 or 1099, then they can do it. Now that is just too much power right?

      LOL…

      Reply
      • Ah you joking right?! Ah I didn’t know that they could file on my behalf without permission.. I wonder who brainy idea was that?

        Reply
        • No, real talk Nykky it’s true…I will search for it in the IRS Manuel and give you the exact wording. Now you know that going to file if you OWE them….even if you don’t they still will, but you could lose out on a lot of credits that you were eligible to take because IRS wouldn’t include those without you providing that information…that is the risk you take for not filing…getting less than what you were actually due.

        • If you only knew the extent IRS will go….I read where people went “underground” for their safety due to owing IRS. Owing them is like owing the Mafia. If it got to the extreme for me; I would just do the jail time…lol.

      • Congratulations to you too, sis!!! What?! Jazzy I am sticking on the site following you!! Lol… I am going to miss you also.. we all got to keep in touch cause next year is going to be hectic after the agreed foolery the IRS and congress put us through. I may not even file!! I have seen a successful few achieve that.

        • lol, I know right… wonder why they are going to come up with next year…smh. Even the businesses started complianing their 1st qtr profits were down because of that darn PATH Law…Tmobile was leading the pack…lol.

Now, you know when big businesses get involve major changes are on the way…

I read IRS Audit Recommendations for next year…the one that caught my attention the most which of course there are many….was the one that states No one can claim a child on their tax return unless there is a COURT ORDER on file listing them as guardianship if you are NOT the Mother or Father of the child. If you are the parents (separated/divorce) etc., there still must be a court order giving one of the parents the right to claim over the other thru a divorce degree/CPS custody order.

This will allow them to check databases instead of asking for documentation/verification. No exceptions to this rule…wow. Then we got Trump wanting to eliminate the credits all together. Geez, they got my head spinning already…lmbo.

We better prepare and brace ourselves for next year….:-(

      • Jazzy I couldn’t pass the opportunity up it popped on my head. I had a kids moment microphone and all thought…. had to put laughs in… btw my moms went through too she woke me up with screaming

        • lmbo, your household was hopping ….happy dancers yeaaaaaaah. Kind of felt like Christmas morning uh? I really thought about living hot coals in a sack for IRS (Grinch) who held our monies…and gave us grey hairs. I am charging them for the cost of the bottle of cream relaxer and DYE…hehehehehhehehehe

        • Yes she was extremely excited there. I couldn’t go back to sleep either. Lol… I actually have found more gray hair yesterday which I am going to file next year cause I am going to do some major deductibles and itemizing just for the path and mental stress! Lol jk. But I will add my dye!!

  2. Thank you so much Jazzy and everyone else for helping me keep my head together during these trying times. Finally woke up to APPROVED! Ddd of 23. Hopefully it will post today, if not by Tues/Wed.

By the way, post when it hits your bank….we are trying to see when the releases actually happened from the actual DDD date for next year trend…minus the holiday delay; oh and the name of bank.

      Thank you

Congrats…yeah. Ahhhhhhh thank you so much for the kind words. Girl go get that Margarita and celebrate at 9am…lol. You deserve it after all the anxiety and stress IRS put us ALL thru uh?

It was an honor and pleasure to provide assistance; but you all gave back so much more to me than I gave to you. You all showed such professionalism and courtesy to everyone in the Forum and I could see the gratitude and appreciation from everyone.

      THANK YOU, much love :-)

  5. To all those who DID not wake up to a DDD, I know you are feeling extreme stress and disappointment. Don’t worry, a few of us will remain until as long as it takes to help you get thru the rest of this journey that hasn’t ended for you just yet.

If you filed prior to Feb. 5th and did not get a DDD; please contact IRS ASAP. If you can’t view your transcript online to see if there is any issues / codes that indicate something is wrong CALL.

Don’t seek answers HERE because you at this point are seeking FACTS, not theories, speculations, and best guesses, which is all we can provided because each person taxes are “individual” and specific to their own personal status.

Letters are still going out. The date IRS is giving, stating wait until 27th is for a reason. That is when you should have the letter in your mailbox they starting sending out on or before the 15th. If you wait it out; you just delayed yourself that much longer…

The only (2) people that can ASSIST you from this point going forward are:

    1. IRS
    2. ADVOCATE

It may be something SIMPLE as an ID verification to something as SERIOUS as a FULL BLOWN AUDIT. No one could possible know the answers…but IRS.

They are open today to accept calls to help you:

If taxpayers receive an IRS Letter 4883C, it’s because the IRS stopped a questionable return. Before calling, taxpayers again must be prepared to validate their ID.

The IRS toll-free telephone lines will be available Saturday, February 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (local time) and Monday, February 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (local time).

Some of us will remain here until March 1, 2017 to help support you all the way; so please continue to rely upon us if you just need to express your frustration or talk about it…ok. A lot of us probably been thru whatever it may be. I was audited this year Mar. 2016 and completed my audit on Feb 10 this year after sending everything but my DNA..lol. I won and they ruled in my FAVOR…but it was the most “stressful” months and getting that letter in the mail, my heart sunked when I read it….pit it my stomach….so I know how it feels, speaking from my own experience.

Good luck…and fax over any documentation ASAP; you may be only a 1-2 week delay…

Keep me posted ok….and I am keeping you in my prayers that it is nothing serious that you can’t resolve right away.

I am hoping for it sooner because I habe the emerald card and did the loan for the holidays and the took my paycheck yesterday for the balance of the loan! ( I direct deposit into my emerald card) We are residence in a motel at the moment with 4 children and they put me in a rough spot taking the money from my payroll. ( always paid loan back with refund) Anyways, happy to see the DDD and I am keeping every one in my prayers for a speedy refund! Thanks Jazzy for all the info! Very inspiring and helpful!

      • Katrina,

You are very welcome. If it was not for the holiday you would see the deposit Monday, but now it will be as early as Tues, my estimation. Wed the worse case scenario. I will keep your family in my prayers that yours will be release asap. I know it has to be difficult being in a motel with your children.

IRS created a tremendous undue hardship on many that were already dealing with difficult issues. If the PATH law did not go in effect we all would have gotten the refund 3 weeks ago. I pray they come up with some other mechanism to fight fraud than this Path….

Hang in there a little bit longer…keep the faith. God is always right on time…for us; even in our darkest hour or when we feel we have reached our lowest moment…

And it is through the POSITIVE FEEDBACK, compassion, and structures you set up. Andy (author) thank you so much. You are the COURAGEOUS one to speak up and tell your story; I am so touched and inspired by your words. I gave up my life and time to devote it all to this site because I CARES and I had something to OFFER and felt it was my duty to do so and not sit on the sideline and say NOTHING…or allow other forums to ban/restrict or deny me to help others. 8. MORNING UPDATE:

WOW, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! A LOT OF HAPPY DANCERS..I am probably more happier than YOU are…LOL. Awesome. To those who woke up with that WMR LITE UP with the 2nd bar…APPROVED. You don’t have to ever look at it again to next year…don’t even worry about the 3rd bar. Pull that paper out and start making that list, and check it out twice, when the money hit the bank, it’s going to be NICE…(Poet) in me…lol.

NEXT QUESTION NOW: WHEN WILL I SEE THAT LONG AWAITED MONEY IN THE BANK…RIGHT? I am already reading your minds…hehehhehehheheheh.

IRS is now OFF the HOOK…..It’s between YOU and YOUR BANK: Depends on your bank if you see it this morning; if not my bet you will see it in your account on Tuesday/Wednesday the latest. But NOT the 23rd…no way.

Why does it take so long for the funds to show up in my account?

It takes additional time for refunds to be processed after leaving the IRS, and for financial institutions to accept and deposit them to bank accounts and products like debit cards. Also many financial institutions do not process payments on weekends or holidays, which can affect when refunds reach taxpayers. For EITC and ACTC filers, the three-day holiday weekend involving President’s Day affects their refund timing.

The refunds being released belong to legitimate filers who claimed either the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. That covers an estimated 15 million filers this year, according to H&R Block. But their wait is not over.

“Taxpayers will not see the funds deposited into their banking accounts until as late as the week of Feb. 27,” “There are many processing steps that the IRS, the Treasury and the banks go through to get the money into the taxpayers hands.”

    Reply
      • Jason, no

Send to the bank means = Treasury hit that electronic sent button to go directly to your bank account which hits the bank within minutes.

Your bank now is in full control regarding how quickly that process that pending transaction from the Treasury.

DDD date of 23rd…is giving you apprx date as to which you should have it in your account. They give (5) days from the time they sent it till the time the bank post it to the account. If you don’t see anything with (4) days pass the 23rd then they are saying you should PANIC…because something went wrong. The acct number was wrong and the bank rejected it and sent it back to be mailed. Or, your name was NOT on the account…that caused the rejection. Several reasons could send it back..

  15. Good morning everyone. Question. Does anyone else on this forum have a status on the WMR website of “STILL PROCESSING?” I filed on 2/2 received on 2/3. Ordered both transcripts on 2/11 and I have codes 150, 806, 766, 768, 570 and 971. I called the IRS offset and I have no debts owed. 507 means a hold on my taxes and remember I ordered these BEFORE the 15th. So I ordered again yesterday. I am DEFINITELY calling the IRS this morning because I need answers ASAP. But does anyone else have or had similar codes and the same message displayed on their WMR website? Frustrated is an understatement. But I am remaining calm. Also I am claiming the credits because i have a 7 and a half month old son.

    • Nell, lol I use to be a former IRS employee as well and I agree they must do a better job next year. But I am afraid for us because Trump new tax plan removed the EIC, ACTC and Head of Household credits. Only keeping the CTC for children up to 13 years old.

If he gets his way, this could be the last year we are allowed to claim the credits. Now, of course that would stop all this fraud but it will hurt a lot of us extremely.

Let’s just hope HE don’t get his way; at least not in time for 2018 Tax Year…for us to get one more year and prepare ourselves financially going forward without it…

  19. Still nothing as of yet. Hoping I see some change in the morning. I did call today. And all they would tell me is that it had been processed. Filed and accepted 2/1/2017. Will call again tomorrow if I don’t see a change. Love this forum. You all have been so helpful. Thank you! And good luck to everyone!

  20. Brown Eyes,

You need to call an Advocate first thing in the morning; they will help you resolve this within 1-2 weeks. Once you send them what they need…IRS has 1 week to respond back to the advocate as to whether the documents were sufficient to release the hold.

They opens on Saturday. Look up your local office and call for an appt. They also have access to IRS database and can tell you exactly what they see in the system and what you need to send IRS to clear it up.

Call both of them…this is the statewide number: You can also call the Taxpayer Advocate Service toll-free at 1-877-777-4778, or fill out Form 911, Request for Taxpayer Advocate Service Assistance. Tell them you have some type of HARDSHIP….that is the only way that will open a case file for you to help.

They are the quickest way you can get this resolve…if not it may take up to 6-8 weeks; depend upon when IRS get to your fax.

  21. I looked on wmr and it is saying we have received your return and it is being processed.. is that a good sign I just need my refund right now I hope I don’t need to wait till the 27

    Reply
    • Erin, yes that is a very good sign that you will get a DDD in the morning. The WMR should be working I hope to indicate that, but if not the next best thing would be to view your transcript online in the morning and look for the 846 code, if you are unable to do so, the you must call IRS in the morning and let them know you don’t have access online nor the WMR is working reflecting the 18th update…then they will have to verbally tell you the DDD…

      Good luck, keep us posted…

  22. This site has been a big help and I have a question….I called the IRS and they said my funds are due to be released on the 23rd. I’m so excited but how long after it is released will I expect a direct deposit? Also can it be released earlier than the projected release date they gave me? My Wmr is still reading being processed so I just ended up calling.

    Reply
    • Nv, yes it always comes before the DDD; the holiday may delay a little bit. If you don’t see it in your account in the morning, most likely you will Tuesday morning….rare for you to get it on that exact date. I got mines already and the WMR did not update and I am sure I had a DDD for 2-22nd. My transcript said 846 date of 3-6-17. That date don’t mean a thing…

You will see it sooner than that for sure…

      Congrats…

    • Jazzy I see all types of codes. Also St the top it states that a minus sign indicates a credit amount that o should be receiving.

      Reply
      • Brown Eyes, the only code that you want to see is 846 and the negative amount is the amount that will be deposited to your account.

Code 971, 507, 1121 are not good codes. You can google IRS CODES it will give the a list of the meaning of each one.

        Good Codes 150,806,766,768 and 846

        Reply
        • Okay I have codes 250, 806, 766,768,570 and 971 as notice issued Date 02/27/2017 and it has $0.00 after the date across from code 971. I want my refund

        • Brown Eyes,

Ouch, those are horrible codes. I could not find a 250. 971 had a lot of different meanings. 570 is a Freeze/Hold. State possible offsetting…did you call the offset line to see if they deducted something: Here is the number.

          (800) 304-3107 call now and see if it stated offset “paid” and give you a DDD of 22nd or 23rd, if so, then you are done and that is your DDD.

Also, google what I did below for the list of description of ALL your codes.

IRS CODES ON TRANSCRIPT….that will give you a complete list of definitions. You can google each Code separately and see if they will come up….

Hope they have fixed those issues by tomorrow; if not; you won’t be seeing a DDD ….no letter in the mail? uhmmmm weird. IRS should have told you what was going on behind the scene. They knew ….

        • Look like IRS just processed a letter and that 2-27-17 date next to 971 means that is the day you should receive it in the mail, but don’t wait for it…that will only delay you further…if IRS hasn’t verify the issues thru all the varies data bases or made phone calls to match /verify whatever is holding or delaying your return from being released by now.

A lot of Letters are going out, you might just have to verify your identity via phone then you will be released right away…

    • Jazzy… I called the offset line earlier this month and they said that I have nothing pending. I had an offset back on my 2014 return and even last year I received my entire tax return. I can call the phone number now and find out something? The 800 number you just provided

      Reply
      • That’s the problem, they caught it this year; this happen to someone else in a forum and IRS offset the amount and took it from them this year.

Now if you owe IRS (levy/lien) it will not show up on the OFFSET line….you will have to contact this number for them.

        1-800-913-6050

        • Hey Jazzy. I actually just called and I have no debt that is owed in which I will be offset in the IRS tax offset system. I will be calling the IRS in the morning, because I need answers.

        • ok, yes you do ( a lot of answers). Hopefully they will tell you what the letter contains; so you can fax the info asap to release the hold…

Good luck, let me know what you find out ok.

Good night…try not to worry! Be on that phone as soon as they open…I think it was 9am.

  23. FINAL UPDATE:

IF you don’t make the cut….at least IRS will be Open to answer all your questions Sat and Mon. No one at his point forward can help….answer “WHY” except IRS….could be anything that caused your delay…

I hope I was able to get you all this far….but my job is done after tomorrow. IRS PUT ME OUT OF A JOB…LOL. But I will keep checking in up until March 1, 2017 to see any updates / posts as those who continue to have to wait for releases due to issues they need to be resolve. Some may have just been re-sequenced for a 2 week delay..nothing serious. But IRS will be able to address ANY issues at this point…

Hope we all come back together NEXT YEAR and stress ALL OVER AGAIN (TOGETHER)…LOL. Enjoy this FORUM because everyone was so kind, respectful and supported to one another. THANK YOU ALL FOR THAT….and making this an awesome GROUP.

      • Don’t mind that date at all, just saying you will be completed by that date. You will see a DDD tomorrow no later than next week your funds will be in your account.

In the morning, you should see a 846 code. Until you see that date’ your refund HAS NOT been released by the U.S. Treasury. That code is generated after the treasury hit that electronic button to your bank…

You can get a deposit without seeing that CODE…that is the RELEASE CODE. Hope you can view it online to check for it….if not, call IRS and they will confirm if you don’t see an update….which you will :-).

        Reply
        • Brown Eyes, correction. You “CAN’T get a deposit without seeing the CODE 846 or IRS / WMR inform you of a DDD…then you are good to go.

Good Luck, sleep well – wake up to awesome news ok.

        • Brown Eyes, on your “ACCOUNT” Transcript you will see several codes. 846 will the the very LAST code on the transcript closing out TAX YEAR 2017.

        • Brown Eyes, I am going to pray you and everyone see that long waited DDD….of course I have no control of the outcome, but I am going to think positive and claim it for you all…I hope I am not disappointed and you and the others still waiting don’t get it…ugh :-(.

      • Oh, then you want actually have the most current update since it took 5-7 or more days to get to you. So, that one maybe moot; don’t worry ok, if you get a DDD tomorrow nothing else matters…

Hopefully the WMR will update for real, if not, you won’t be able to see anything without being able to view your transcript online…ugh.

If that WMR is not LITE – UP with BARs….the only way you will be able to know if you got a DDD is to call IRS and confirm….IRS insisting that the WMR will be working for the MASSIVE UPDATE….uhmmmmmmm I guess we will have to just wait and see about that….

I got my deposit already and right now the WMR is still saying the msg. Your return is still be processed…smh.

So, I think in the morning or Tuesday.

    • Anthony, they are moving really fast it is possible you will be in the huge update in the morning. But if not, give it another week. They will run a new Master File tape on Tuesday for Friday DDD….

Anything is possible, let me know if you get a wonderful surprise in the morning. Also, you can call them and hope they will tell you the status. Can you order your transcript yet? The account?, if not, then that will be your first indication whether you have been processed yet….

If you can, see what the codes are ok.

      Reply
    • It will be the very last date on the ACCOUNT transcript….you will see 150, (806) withholding 766, 768, then the FINAL 846 Refund Issued. Could be other codes; you can google IRS Codes….if you want to know what they are.

You don’t want to see freeze code 971, 570….or a letter has been sent…etc.,

      Hope this helps…

  29. Hi everyone! I was reading these comments yesterday and in despair (eventhough Jazzy was being incredibly positive), but I have a positive update! Submitted my return through JH on 1/20. Path message until 2/15- then changed to is being processed. This morning changed to has been approved and will be sent to your bank BY 2/22, 27th at the latest. Buuuut I just checked and it’s all in my account. It may have been faster because I did use the pre-paid card offered through JH. I don’t know. But I’m happy to say that I received my return and am paying off bills that have been waiting for it :)

    • AesLrs, thank you, CONGRATS, wow now that is a positive update. That will give others hope as well that they may see funds in their account tonight or in the morning. Just prove the 22nd DDD doesn’t matter. I always got my refund (4) days before the scheduled date…

In the morning I think EVERYONE LEFT will be HAPPY CAMPERS too.

I pray no one wake up to a sad face :-(.

    • It does appear that the majority of people getting their returns earlier than their DDD do have pre-paid or re-loadable cards.
I have Chase so I hope the dont keep it all the way until the 23rd (a Thursday).
In the past if my DDD was on a Monday it would be in my account on the Saturday before.
Guess we’ll see. I’m just glad to have a date verified by and IRS employee.

    • Tammy, it says that but in a couple of hours you will be able to check again..lol. From past experience, most ppl got their refunds (4) days prior to the DDD date. With the holiday, it may push your deposit to Tuesday the latest, unless you wake up to a ddd in the morning and that sure can happen…

Call your bank before they close and see if they see a pending transaction…in the morning too. Since most close early.

  32. For those of you who have yet to talk with IRS, here are a few other options you can give a try.

    1. Call the Treasury and ask if they have release your fund to your bank – Treasury number (800) 304-3107

    2. Call the offset line, if you owed monies; this will be the first indication that you been processed if it says its be paid. It will also, include a DDD date as well.(800) 304-3107

    3. If you are unable to get your transcript call and ask if they can pull it up and let you know if they see the code 846 or fax it to you. 800-908-9946.

    4. Keep trying to get a live rep (800) 829-0582 click #1 then the ext 652 or 18008291040, 1 for English then 2241

    5. If it has been 21 days, and have a hardship get a tax advocate to set up an appt with you. They can resolve ALL issues within 1-2 weeks. 1-877-777-4778. They can also pull up your return and tell you the DDD.

    6. Also, when you get IRS on the line tell them you need them to do a 911 Request Form on your behalf for an advocate to contact you. Tell them you do have a hardship…they can do that.

These may or may not work, but worth a try. If all fails, then give it till in the morning and see if you are in the MASSIVE FINAL DAY UPDATE…
